Seven Parts Full, Anya Ow, Translunar Travelers Lounge. This is just so nice. (I guess the mission statement of Translunar Travelers Lounge is in fact happy stories? I'm into it.)
Melting Like Metal, Ada Hoffmann, Lightspeed. An autistic cyborg knight hunting a heretic.
Exile's End, Carolyn Ives Gilman, Tor.com. Fascinating story about the repatriation of cultural artifacts (and the fetishization of the past, in different ways). NOVELETTE.
Jigsaw Children, Grace Chan, Clarkesworld. "What if industrial production of children" is not a new idea, but I thought this had some good character beats. NOVELETTE.
The Immolation of Kev Magee, L.X. Beckett, Clarkesworld. I love this kind of thing, near-future Retreat to the North fiction with a lot of crunchy world building and a good protag. NOVELETTE.
My Sister's Wings Are Red, Christine Tyler, Beneath Ceaseless Skies. Killer combination of backstory and front story here. NOVELETTE.
The Ones Who Look, Katharine Duckett, Tor.com. Intriguing premise about a company that has built a tech version of Heaven and Hell. I read this awhile ago and remember being unsatisfied with the ending but now I like it, go figure. NOVELETTE.
