The Tea Master and the Detective

The Tea Master and the Detective, Aliette de Bodard, novella. Holmes and Watson, only Holmes is a lady and Watson is a spaceship and it's set in her Xuya universe, which I think is an interesting thing, doing a pastiche in a world she'd already built and used for a bunch of other stories. I can't offhand think of another example of someone doing that, exactly, although there probably are them and I'm just not thinking of them. Anyways, it's a fine story and I like the Xuya universe.
