Yuletide 2014 recs post 5
Jan. 2nd, 2015 02:05 amStill sort of working alphabetically from both ends, a few more Bs, S and R, and the start of Q.
Three Raksura stories:
Share and Share Again, a Jade/Moon/Chime threesome.
At Moon Falls. Hee, Moon.
Sky-Bound and Sprinting. Moon is just adorable okay? Especially with the Sky Copper kids.
So Goddamn Beautiful, a Saga story in which Alana knocked Marko up. I was dubious about this premise - I fell for Saga at that magnificent breastfeeding cover, and there's something a little icky about the disempowerment/male-centering of taking Alana's pregnancy away from her and giving it to Marko, but in fact this story is in Alana's POV and still very much about Alana, and it's well-done and totally *them*, so, enh.
And I don't know if I'm just dreaming. I liked this Strictly Ballroom story.
Five Pan Pacifics and A Christmas Dinner. I think this Strictly Ballroom story has smart things to say about the future of the Hastings family in dance competitions.
80% Wool. Short hilarious Sports Night story with spot-on voices, established Dan/Casey.
The Larks, Still Bravely Singing, Fly. Secret Garden stories about the War are practically a Yuletide staple, and this is a good one.
The Skylark's Song. The previous Secret Garden War story sends Dickon to the war. This one sends Colin too.
Owls in the Garden. Dira Sudis wrote this Secret Garden crossover in which Hogwarts letters are delivered to the garden.
Locked Room. Every detective partnership must be slashed, and Elijah Baley and R. Daneel Olivaw are no exception. Asimov Robots series.
cannot help giving. Aww, a Marten and Claire Questionable Content story.
The Existential Weight of Cupcakes. A very well done Questionable Content story about Momo and college and AI in the QCverse.
