Our first ever parent-teacher conference today. Um, regularly scheduled, not on account of anything going on, and in fact the contents were mainly "she's fine, she's great".

They did mention that new babies have been a topic of general interest lately (another kid has a recent new sibling) and Junie may be somewhat ahead of the curve in terms of biological details and readiness to expound upon them, bringing me that much closer to my dream of my kid being the one to teach her peer group all the grown-up words for commonly euphemized things ::grin::. (The teacher is a little hard to understand so I'm not quite sure what exactly Junie was saying - definitely something about why her daddy couldn't have a baby growing inside him. So far we've talked a little about that, at her lead, and she's recently gotten interested in how the heck is the baby going to come out; no discussion yet of how it got in there in the first place, although it's possible that when she asks "why are you having a baby" and I talk about why we want a baby, she's really thinking "no no come on guys how did this even happen".)

If you liked Jacqueline Carey's Santa Olivia you'll probably like the sequel. It wasn't as good as the first one, but I enjoyed it. Would make a fun TV series (except that the show would make both of them white and one of them a dude and I would flatly refuse to watch it, oh well).
