It is theoretically Short Story Week here in the land of Thing Reccing Month, which turns out to be very hard, as mostly what sticks in my head such that I could find it again to rec it is longer stories. (Well, Short Story Week and miscellaneous other things, but I haven't cooked anything lately worth writing about and have been reading the same book for weeks.) So here I am not even halfway through the month (this is technically Monday's rec) and resorting to seeing what my favorite fanfic authors have written that's short.

Revenge, by Astolat, is 6700 words of Clark/Lex in the comics future where Luthor is president. Dubcon, I guess, but not in an icky way; it's really funny. Not my absolute favorite of her Clark/Lex stories (Moving On ::giant hearts::) but it's under 10000 words, and is memorable even above the background level of "everything [livejournal.com profile] astolat writes is good".

Short Story Week continues!

Here Comes A Candle is just baaarely under 10K words (about 9800). Buffy gen. I don't read a lot of horror, I don't read a lot of fanfic horror, but I can remember reading this years ago and thinking whoa, that was truly scary. (ETA: terrible formatting, I think it used to be up elsewhere but this was all I could find.)

(The other horror fanfic story that stuck in my head was a popslash story where deranged serial killer fans of NSync go after them for souvenirs, but I don't remember a title or author and can't find it on the net; I suspect it was long since taken down since it was serious horror in a slasher film/people die sort of way.)
