Traditional Culinary Rituals for Tinies? Threw together some very slap-dash hamantaschen with Juniper (pros of being goy - my grandmother didn't do it any particular way, so no high standards on that front): Nutella and poppyseeds in piecrust dough. I should have used a little less Nutella with the poppyseeds (they got *very* bubbly when baking and a bunch of them fell open, especially the ones folded later in the process when the dough had been re-rolled more times (Juniper was cutting some of the circles, so of course she would mostly put the cup down right in the middle, efficient packing being a post-toddler concept)) but they taste good, and Junie was interested and helped eagerly as appropriate, so, a fine activity all around.

Maggie Stiefvater's YA werewolf romance Linger is printed in *green*. Meaning that every time I open it, I do not say, "oh, how cool and different", I say "ugh, what, why? grumble grumble hard to read kids these days".

I bet I would have thought it was so cool twenty years ago.

Project: What Can You See?
Materials: a small magnifying glass
Explanatory details: invited Junie to look through magnifying glass at miscellaneous toys and books nearby
How did it go: the coordination to hold the glass at an appropriate distance from both her eye and an object was entirely beyond her. We had to work on the idea of holding it to her eye as opposed to the tip of her nose.
Things we talked about: I was going to tell her that it made things look bigger, but we didn't get that far.
What Junie got out of it: honestly not a lot. Probably more suited to Science for Smalls.
