Hey, ok, Adam and Eve at last, woo hoo, I guess. Jack thought they were like fifty years old, not thousands, but we only have to believe Jack's an idiot, here, or that they were preserved by their special diet of secret herbs and spices, so whatever. Also, hey, the wheel, woo.

I suppose, having decided to go the route of making this Smokey/Jacob thing The Central Final Conflict Of The Show, they were bound to actually give some backstory/context for that and this was a way to do it, but, ugh, why am I supposed to care, again? Who is there for us to care about here? Maybe it's a sign of my limits as an audience but I just can't get that involved without someone to like.

As I mentioned in my own post about this, I maintain that they could have had Lock tell every relevant detail of this story in under a minute, perhaps in response to Jack saying "Ok, but before we do, I need you to tell me one thing. How did this all start with you and Jacob?"

The other thing I realized is that the character I call "Locke" above is actually named Esau, obviously.
