It's Wednesday, so I can report on the swim lesson. We went Under for the first time and did not especially like it but otherwise had fun.

Oh, in Unconventional Swimwear Watch news, the instructor's assistant tried to be funny about Junie's non-swimsuit ("topless? uh-oh, going to get me in trouble", when I corrected his pronoun) to which I responded rather flatly that she was ten months old. Josh feels like I should have humored him (assistant this time was a somewhat older man, as opposed to the instructor, who I'm pretty sure is in college) but, ugh. It annoyed me, and I don't like (what I see as) the underlying assumption that as a girl, her body and clothing exist to be commented on, by men in particular... starting more or less from birth... I didn't correct the next couple of wrong pronouns.

Just to clarify, I didn't meant that you should humor him, but just that I think that he thought he was making a harmless joke, as opposed to seriously suggesting that a ten-month old baby needed to keep her shirt to avoid being scandalous. But I think you're right that the underlying implication (which I hadn't thought as much about) is distressing and annoying. :^(
