content-type thingy
May. 31st, 2002 04:08 pmSo I've been sleeping a lot lately, and dreaming a lot. Some bad dreams: there's a plague of zombie-monsters, but they're afraid of dead bodies, so everybody has to keep bodies in their house. One of them is after me, I'm treeclimbing/jumping from tree to tree down this quiet residential block, but when I get to the end there she is, this horribly grinning little girl. I try to tell her there are *dead bodies* in the house behind me but she just laughs; I need to, like, hit her away with some sort of weapon (like a mace would be good) but all I have is this ribbon of sharp metal, which I lash out with and cut her face, and she's bleeding, but she just laughs, and it's too floppy to actually push her back, and I wake up just as... I'm not actually sure what they do, but it's not good.
Or silly romance dreams: marriage proposals work like college applications, like you can indicate several people you might be interested in and then there's a period of time when all the guys ask (yeah, so it appears all that gender equality stuff has not penetrated my subconscious) and a deadline to accept one, and there's an early decision option and stuff. So I've heard back from the very sweet but not exciting boyfriend (played by my high school ex, who always seems to get the "innocent young love" parts these days), but am still sort of holding out hoping to hear from the sexy flirtaceous guy (who, damn, I didn't recognize from real life), only sweet-guy's family and mine all assume it's a done deal and are making all these plans, and then it went off onto a weird angle involving tidepools somehow.
Or the totally random but neat ideas: I'm at "UCSD" in their (not-actually-existent) basement art museum, and there's this installation piece that's all these speakers and electronics gear and a music stand holding the score to "Flight of the Bumblebee". And, if you dance, or pretend to conduct, motion sensors pick it up and start playing, and the faster/wilder you move the faster/louder it plays... I think this one, unlike the marriage proposals, might actually work in real life...
I'm going to pass on psychoanalysis of any of these.
In other news, I'm still in leave-of-absence limbo due to my advisor randomly being in Italy for some conference when I finally got my act together to go make it formal.h
