onesie hacking

If Juniper at some point goes nuts for pink and wants to proclaim herself a princess, I'll try to be just as supportive of that as any other enthusiasm, but I'm not in a rush to put the label on her myself. A couple of gift onesies posed a challenge to that preference, but with some transfer crayons and a little work I feel like I've managed to put my own spin on the "little princess" thing:

I wish I could have found redeeming value in the pastel blue velour suit with footballs, football helmets, and the phrase (in very large letters) "Thank God for little boys" that one of our neighbors gave T when he was born.

Hesitant to label her pink, I see, but with no qualms about labeling her steampunk? Yay! After all, it's a bit early for her to exercise very much agency in the creation of her identity performance, so you gotta go with something. That's really cute.

I haven't heard of transfer crayons. How do they work? Are they sufficiently permanent?

Sadly, no; they're meant for use on synthetics and I assume will wash out of the all-cotton onesies. I'd never actually used them though so it was a nice opportunity to try them. Basically you color in mirror-image onto a piece of paper and then iron it onto the fabric.

Dud, that is awsome. I have some inkjet teeshirt transfer paper, now I am going to have to do something like that, I will have to look at the free girl genius images again. But what do you do with an outfit that has stripes and hot pink butt ruffles?
