It's a little weird how incredibly much older Juniper is now than she was a week ago, and how many milestone Firsts she's accumulated - Baby's First Hug From A Grandma, Baby's First Bounce On The Yoga Ball, Baby's First Encounter With The Baby In The Mirror, Baby's First Tummy Time, Baby's First Milk Running Out Of Her Nose, Baby's First Milk Sprayed In Her Eye, Baby's First Breadcrumb Dropped In Her Ear... of particular note was Baby's First Outing, in which we ever-so-carefully dressed Juniper for the weather and adjusted the straps in her carseat bucket and tucked a quilt over her and drove to the pediatrician's office, where she promptly pooped and we realized that after all our fluttering over her and the carseat we had absolutely no other supplies with us - no diapers, no wipes, no change of clothes, nothing. Fortunately being a pediatrician's office they had diapers and she hadn't gotten any on her clothes, but there was this hilarious moment when we just sort of blinked at each other, like, now what?

She's also changed in several noticeable ways since birth - she lies much more open and flat now, uncurled from the tight ball she preferred at first. She opens her big eyes much wider than her little brand-new squint. The backs of her hands were initially dimpled with odd little star-shaped dents and they seem smoother and plumper now. It's kind of amazing how we can already see her growing up from that first little minutes-old meeple.

*hughughug* She sounds wonderful--I can't wait to meet her!!! By the way, I stand ready to make a casserole and bring it over at a moment's notice (ok, well maybe not quite at a moment's notice, but fairly quickly--I can't wait to meet her!) so please let me know if you want food or anything else, and I'd be happy to bring it over! *hugs*

I can't believe she's been out that long! I can't imagine how much more extreme that is for those of you who've actually met her (even if she is in the pre-personality-fairy phase).

They change so quickly at that age! I'm glad she continues to be healthy.

(Even four years experience doesn't render one immune to forgetting the spare clothes, alas.)

Forgive me, but when I read "baby's first outing" I leapt to a very different assumption about what you were going to be talking about :^)

And what a milestone for a grandma to hold little Juniper (she was littler then ::grin::) and stroke her velvet cheek! As she grows and changes, I think it will probably continue to feel like a milestone each time I see her for quite a while. (At the risk of getting sappy, it was also a milestone to see my son as a father! Not to belittle seeing his wife as a mother, of course, but our history doesn't go back in quite the same way...)

I love that picture, too!

The breadcrumb in her ear makes me think of the time I ate spaghetti left-handed over Jonah... very messy.

It is amazing how much older they look at each stage. And then you look back and they seem young. Weird.
