Catheters are not the answer -- unpleasant, increased risk for infection, as well as the complications of having a tube to navigate around. The real problem is a combination of the exam room not having a BR and them not having room to move her from the exam room (supposed to be a temp place to check a person out and decide if they are sufficiently in labor to be staying) to a real room. On the bright side, without all the walking, the labor could have taken weeks....
