Obviously a marketing ploy on the part of JKR. (Rorlins over on the podcast I linked to last week has been cracking jokes about needing to get the Right-wingers worked up about the Golden Compass movie(s) so they can provide it with free press ala HP.)
I have to admit, I really don't understand why people get worked up around HP and give _His Dark Materials_ a free pass---it's much, much more anti Christian.
Not sure how I feel about "Dumbledore is gay" as an answer to the question of whether or not he'll find love (though I wonder about the precise wording of the question). But this is a minor quibble in light of the number of Rowling brain hacks which meet with my enthusiastic approval.

I think that, sadly, a lot of people are heterosexist and immediately conflate "love/relationship" with "boy/girl"
(though I wonder about the precise wording of the question)
Fair point.
You know, when I was reading it, I immediately thought of that as going with Dumbledore's beign so impressed with Grindelwald and being a little naive about him, but sometimes I see things like this when the authors don't;-)
I've seen the actual question summarized in a couple different ways, all of which are problematic to varying degrees, but I don't really care enough about Dumbledore and Rowling to seek out a definitive answer. I assume heterosexism as a default state...which is, I would like to think, a pessimistic attitude on my part, but more likely it's just realistic.
