and so forth
Dec. 18th, 2018 11:29 pmStressed to the point where I can't actually accomplish anything and am just binge-reading romance novels: I believe this is what they call the "most wonderful time of the year". :/
A Lady Awakened, Cecilia Grant, het Regency. A widow hires a dude to knock her up for inheritance reasons; he tries to make it sexy but instead gets into her kink of being seen as a person. I really liked some things about this and not others.
Band Sinister, KJ Charles, queer Regency. An accident throws sheltered young siblings together with notorious rakes. I really liked the handling of the polyam aspect of this - the rake who gets together with our young male sibling is in a longstanding best-friends-with-benefits triad, and there was some good talk about both how it could be genuinely hard to balance that with a romance, but also not impossible. Neat to see a polyam-friendly Regency. I hope there's a sequel so we can check in on how they're doing. (Also: work partnership HEA, check.)
