The third Tensorate novella from JY Yang. Definitely don't start here if you haven't read the other two. I enjoyed this a great deal - it was a sort of thing I very much like - although it also has a little bit of middle-bookness, leaving me eager for the fourth one, which we're apparently getting some time next year.
