cool fic exchange

The dark_agenda community on dreamwidth is running a nifty fanwork exchange focusing on characters of color by creators of color. It's a Yuletide-style exchange (you list some fandoms you'd like, you list some fandoms you can do, there is magical matching) but in addition to fic people can also make vids or art. Signups are going on right now through 8 October, works are due 12 November. Sadly, I don't think I'm going to participate - you have to offer at least three fandoms, and there are only two on the list I'm anywhere close to familiar enough with to write in - Octavia Butler's Xenogenesis trilogy and N.K. Jemisin's Inheritance trilogy - plus a couple more with which I have a glancing acquaintance (Y Tu Mama Tambien, the comic strip Boondocks). And I'd be wicked intimidated to write in Xenogenesis or Inheritance, they're such rich, thought-out worlds and well-written books, very different than the flawed sources I usually like to splash around in. (This is not to say I don't love the fandoms I write, just that I often feel drawn to write fic by some feeling that something is missing in what we've gotten in canon, that someone's story wasn't finished, that something about the world didn't hang together. Or just that I could get off a good joke. Srsly I could not write even loving mockery of Octavia Butler.) But people who do fanworks should totally check out the list of fandoms and see if they do have three they could offer! I think it looks like a neat exchange and there are several books on the fandoms list that are on my to-read list, so I'd like to see it get lots of participants.
