I'm so confused about the teams here. Smocke tells Sawyer he thinks some of the other Ajira passengers "mean to do him harm", but there are no other Ajira passengers, there's Widmore's sub team, and Sawyer assumes, when he talks to Widmore, that Widmore wants to kill Smocke, and they do have the sonic fence, but if Widmore got exiled by Ben who was at that point working for Jacob, why isn't Widmore on Team Smocke himself? Why can Widmore return to the island now but not earlier? Does it have something to do with Jacob dying? (But again, that would suggest that his interests might be allied with Smocke's?)
Richard better be serving us a big steaming hunk o' exposition next week. Ha ha ha. The Widmore plot vagueness is, um, not encouraging me to think it's all going to come together by the end. Smocke's creepy interest in Aaron has some potential, although I think I like Smocke better when his backstory is more mysterious and less "I have mommy issues".
I've been anticipating those Kate-and-Claire scenes and meh. Kate was just such a lump - first Smocke jumps in and makes it all about him, and then when Claire hugs her at the end she doesn't even try to have a real conversation with her. I guess she's still in shock that it's not going how she pictured it or she's concluded that Claire is just too round the bend, but ugh. Would have liked to see them get some actual dialogue.
I did like alternaSawyer and alternaMiles as cop buddies. Oh Sawyer, he just wants you to talk to him! And trust him! (Give him the sad sunflower!)
Questions:
- who are Adam and Eve (the bodies in the cave)?
- what happened to Rose and Bernard and Vincent after the bomb went off?
- why did the psychic tell Claire she had to be on that plane? is there something special about Aaron? does who ends up raising him have any bearing on any of the big conflicts?
- Walt?
- haha. no, seriously, Walt? do his powers have anything to do with Jacob/Smocke? where is he in the new timeline? what made the Others interested in him, and did Ben really let him go because he was too powerful for him to control?
- Libby?
- why did flight attendant Cindy happily join the Others?
- will Sun and Jin ever make it back home to their little girl?
- why didn't Sun go back to 1977 with the rest of the Oceanic 6?
Answered:
- what happened to Claire, anyways, after she vanished on the island? (She's been living much as Rousseau did. Also, she's insane and in cahoots with Smocke.)
- why doesn't Richard Alpert age? who/what is he? (He was on the Black Rock, and he doesn't age because that's just something Jacob can do to people.)
