adventures in furniture moving

The short version: couch does not fit through doorway/hall into new apartment. Woe! Couch is rotated through many possible orientations. Woe, scuff marks, and dents in the plaster! Local friend agrees to take couch. Yay! Local friend may even have possible job search contact? Double yay!

Things were just a bit crazy but really other than the troubles with the couch it's all been going very smoothly, and the actual moving of the couch to the friends' went quite well as well, for which I'd like to thank Dodge, for making a minivan (Grand Caravan) that can take a seven-foot couch with the back latched properly and all. And, you know, all the people involved and stuff ::grin::.

Especially [livejournal.com profile] irilyth, whose making-difficult-turns-in-hilly-parking-lots-with-lots-of-columns and carrying-heavy-objects skills are mighty and impressive.

Hey, cool. I am sorry to hear about the couch, but congratulations on the happening of the move. Yay! I hope you're enjoying the new place.

Recommendation: Dirk Gently's Holistic Agency.

At least your couch was better behaved than his.

We were discussing that! I forget at what point in the move, but it was probably when we had to take the front door off its hinges to get the couch out. We kept saying, "We know it got in..."
