TV: Agents of SHIELD pilot

I enjoyed it - I like superhero shows, I like Whedon shows, this is one, okay then - although I'm disappointed to learn from wikipedia that Mike is apparently *not* joining the team/the regular cast/etc, which is too bad as I thought he was one of the more appealing characters (and the show really seemed to be going there, with him saying this was his origin story... I feel misled). Instead it seems likely to have the same problem Dollhouse had, of spending waaaay too much time on the dude in the Paul Ballard role (aka "the completely uninteresting white male main character", here a black ops specialist who only wants to work aloooooone). And the scientists seem straight out of Pacific Rim, where I didn't love them either (but fandom sure seems to, so probably will again, and at least one of them is a lady here). I really like Skye, though, and May, and I can't wait to get more May backstory and Coulson mystery and I was glad to get to see Maria Hill.

I don't think they've actually spoken, but I'm preemptively shipping Skye/May - superhero fangirl, totally probably a semi-retired superhero, MFEO, right? plus okay I am as susceptible as the next girl to the temptation to smash the two most awesome characters in any cast together. I might need a couple more episodes before I can fic it though ::grin::.

I totally agree about the character focus;-( (Wouldn't it be great if they still have time to fix that? Probably not likely) I was delighted to see the two that you were happy to see (trying to be careful here spoiler-wise)
