PSA: misuse of tools edition

Normally when I rake leaves, I fill the yard waste can, step up in there, trample them down, and repeat. I can't do that this year (starting with not being able to step that high and continuing on to an unwillingness to risk falling over). I tried pushing the leaves down with my rake, which worked at first when they were still pretty fluffy, but as they got denser, I had to push harder... and ended up snapping the head off my rake. So: don't do that. I should have either used the push broom or put Juniper in there to stomp.

What I do (or did, now that I don't have a yard and yard waste cans anymore...) is use an empty smaller trash can or large bucket to mush down the leaves/yard waste. It seemed to work pretty well and there was no climbing into the bin involved.

I vote for a Juniper stomp. :)
