update

So it turns out that when you happen to have an annual physical scheduled two days after spraining your ankle for the third time in two months, your physician may gently suggest that it's time to go back to the orthopedist you saw in 2013 for an MRI and a revisitation of the question of whether surgery might be called for at some point down the road.

Relatedly, it's kind of unsettling to hear your doctor say "huh, it's like the ligament isn't even there" while gently bending your foot in a direction the human foot maybe does not typically bend. (It didn't hurt, but it kind of freaked me out to watch.)

The way I know that it's time to see the doctor is I ask myself what I would tell my kids if they were experiencing my symptoms. I'd guess that if J or Q had a doctor who said that they needed surgery, you'd have them in the hospital in the morning. Maybe when the grandparents are available would be a good time to schedule your repairs. Good luck!

Sorry to hear about the ankle - that sucks.
